Changes discussed for technical regulation on poultry meat
A public discussion of the draft amendments to the list of standards took place up to September 1, 2023, on the basis of which compliance with requirements of the technical regulation “On the safety of poultry meat and products of its processing” (TR EAEU 051/2021) is ensured.
The list of standards is planned to include GOST 34285-2017 “Food products, food raw materials. Method for the detection of chemotherapeutic drugs for veterinary use using enzyme immunoassay with chemiluminescent detection using biochip technology, which will be used to determine the indicator of “nitrofurans (including furazolidone)” in selected poultry slaughter products.
According to expert community, nitrofurans are antimicrobial drugs that are used in production to prevent various diseases in birds. The presence of nitrofurans in poultry meat indicates that it was slaughtered ahead of time, the timing of the removal of antibiotics from the body of the bird was not taken into account.
At the same time, people who constantly eat meat with antibiotics develop immunity to them, which negatively affects health in general, and also has an adverse effect on the gastrointestinal tract.
