Updated lists of standards for TR CU 017/2011

On December 3, 2023, decision of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) No. 154 of October 31, 2023 comes into force, which amends the lists of standards necessary to comply with the requirements of TR CU 017/2011 “On the safety of light industry products”. Changes are being made to the lists of standards adopted by the decision of the EEC Board No. 180 of December 22, 2020.

The main changes concern addition of new GOST items to both nomenclatures. Thus, the list of standards that establish safety requirements for light industry products includes 10 interstate standards. Among them are GOST standards for: curtain fabric; decorative canvas; non-woven fabric; waist belts and watch straps; leather for clothes, shoes and furniture. The list of test methods will be supplemented with 21 new items.

It includes standards defining the content of: cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium and lead; hexane, heptane, acetaldehyde, acetone, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, methanol, isopropanol, acrylonitrile, n-propanol, butyl acetate, isobutanol, n-butanol, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, m-, o- and p-xylenes, isopropylbenzene, styrene, α-methylstyrene in aqueous extracts; acetaldehyde in the air; methyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, isobutyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol by gas chromatography in air; toxicity index, etc.

In addition, both lists introduce a limited period of application for individual standards – until July 1, 2024. This applies to “outdated” national standards. For example, GOST R 55857-2013 “Quilted blankets and bedspreads. Pillows. General technical conditions”, Standard of Belarus STB 753-2000 “Pillows. General technical conditions”, GOST-R 50721-94 “Knitted fabrics and products. Methods for determining the type and mass fraction of raw materials”, Standard of Kazakhstan ST RK ISO 8288-2005 “Water quality. Determination of cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium and lead. Flame atomic absorption spectrometric methods”, etc.
