Russia plans to limit the use of palm oil
The relevant ministries and departments will be engaged in the development of measures to limit the use of palm oil in the production of food products in the Russian Federation.
The cancellation of tax reliefs for palm oil, applied earlier, did not improve the market situation, therefore, it was decided to develop new regulatory measures.
Experts note that among the initiatives to limit the use of oil in the food industry, adjustments to food technical regulations can be prepared. Currently, the technical regulations “On food safety” (TR CU 021/2011) do not stipulate the norms for the permissible use of palm oil, and the technical regulations for fat and oil products (TR CU 024/2011) indicate only specific requirements for the quality and safety of vegetable oils.
